Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) honored with National Coat of Arms: A year of accolades crowned with the highest state honor
Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) looks back on decades of innovation, international growth, and success – but 2025 marks a true highlight in the company’s history. On October 6, TSA was awarded the Austrian Coat of Arms by Federal Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer.
This designation as a “State Awarded Company” is the highest national honor available to Austrian businesses. It recognizes exceptional contributions to the country’s economy, sustained innovation, and industry leadership. With this distinction, TSA joins an exclusive circle of Austria’s showcase enterprises.
The Coat of Arms is granted only to companies of extraordinary importance to the Austrian economy. The right to use this emblem in business dealings is more than a ceremonial honor – it is a visible seal of excellence, reliability, and international competitiveness.
“The Coat of Arms is both a crown and a commitment. We accept this award with great pride – and at the same time we see it as a motivation to continue investing boldly in innovation, sustainability, and our employees,” says Robert Tencl, CEO of Traktionssysteme Austria.
2024 as the foundation – 2025 as the crowning year
TSA’s path to the Austrian Coat of Arms was not the result of one single success, but of a series of achievements across two years.
In 2025, alongside the Coat of Arms, TSA also received several other milestones of recognition. The Austrian Chamber of Commerce honored TSA with the Gold Export Award in the Industry category, acknowledging an outstanding export rate of around 96 %. With second place in the “Top Female Workplaces 2025” ranking, TSA reaffirmed its commitment to diversity and equal opportunities. The Kununu Top Company Award once again highlighted the importance of employee satisfaction in TSA’s corporate culture. And beyond the business world, TSA technology took center stage at the 2025 Tram World Championship in Vienna, where the Wiener Linien trams – powered by TSA traction motors – and the Wiener Linien team claimed the international title.
These highlights were built on the strong foundation established in 2024. That year, TSA was recognized with Austria’s Best Managed Companies Award for outstanding leadership, named “Austria’s Best Employer” in the industry category by Industriemagazin, and honored as a “Top Apprenticeship Employer 2024/25”. TSA’s apprentices also proved their talent and creativity with a second-place finish in the LET’S TECH competition. These achievements laid the groundwork for the triumphs of 2025, culminating in the Austrian Coat of Arms – a true crowning moment in TSA’s history.
The variety of achievements: employer branding, export, innovation
The awards and milestones of recent years form a colorful mosaic that together tells a unique story. TSA stands for pioneering technology – our traction motors power trains, trams, and buses in nearly 70 countries, ensuring reliable mobility for people and goods across the globe. This international presence is reflected in an export ratio of almost 100 percent, positioning TSA as a true ambassador of Austrian engineering. But the story goes beyond figures and technology. Just as important is what happens inside the company: the trust employees place in their workplace, and the recognition TSA has earned as an employer. From the title of “Austria’s Best Employer”, to repeated Kununu seals of approval, to the Top Female Workplaces ranking – TSA has shown that it is a place where careers grow, and diversity thrives. Young talent also plays a central role: as a Top Apprenticeship Employer and through consistent success in competitions like LET’S TECH, TSA apprentices prove that they hold the future in their hands. Together, these achievements paint a comprehensive picture: TSA is not only a leader in technology and exports, but also a company that empowers people, fosters opportunities, and takes responsibility – today and for tomorrow.
