On March 10, 2026, Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) officially opened its new apprenticeship training center at the company’s headquarters in Wiener Neudorf, Lower Austria. With this expansion, TSA is investing approximately 250,000 Euro in the training of future skilled workers – a clear commitment to the company’s Next Level Strategy and to long-term workforce development.
The opening ceremony took place directly at the new training facility and was attended by members of the management team, apprenticeship trainers, TSA apprentices and employees. In his welcome address, TSA CEO Harold Schmidt emphasized the strategic importance of apprenticeship training for the company: “Our apprentices are a vital part of TSA’s future. With the new training center, we are creating a modern environment where they can gain hands-on experience and develop into highly qualified specialists.”
Vision Becomes Reality: Expanding Apprenticeship Capacity
By increasing its apprenticeship capacity to six positions per year – with plans to expand to eight by 2030 – TSA is laying the foundation for the sustainable development of skilled talent. The goal is to meet the growing demands of an increasingly technology-driven manufacturing environment while supporting and developing the company’s future workforce today.
The newly created training area of around 70 m² will be directly integrated into the production environment. Danijel Cvijanović, Head of Production & Logistics, highlights the benefits of this approach: “These investments reflect our long-term planning. By integrating training directly into production, we create strong synergies: apprentices learn in a real production environment, while trainers and production teams can collaborate even more closely.”
In addition to the new training facility, TSA has also modernized its machinery park. New equipment includes:
- a conventional lathe
- a conventional milling machine
- a modern CNC boring machine
These investments ensure that apprentices receive training based on the latest technological standards while significantly expanding their practical learning opportunities. In addition, the apprenticeship program was recently expanded with the successful introduction of the mechatronics – specializing in electrical machinery engineering apprenticeship, further broadening TSA’s training portfolio.
A Key Element of TSA’s Strategic Development
The expansion of the apprenticeship training center forms part of TSA’s long-term corporate strategy to further advance its technological and industrial capabilities. A central pillar of this strategy is the targeted strengthening of expertise at the Wiener Neudorf site.
At the same time, the new training center fits seamlessly into the broader TSA City vision, which closely links production, innovation and training. As with the recently completed stamping center project, TSA is making deliberate investments in the site – sending a strong signal for growth and modernization. Another important aspect is the strengthening of regional value creation. By training apprentices directly at the site, valuable know-how is retained within the region, further developed and sustainably strengthened.
The close connection between modern training, technological expertise and active employer branding demonstrates TSA’s clear commitment: for the company, training is not merely an obligation, but an opportunity. With the new apprenticeship center, TSA shows that it is thinking long term, taking responsibility and investing in people – the people who play a decisive role in shaping the company’s future.
