TSA Company Newsflash - New Silk Road
Currently European companies have three options to ship their goods from Asia: by the ocean-bound route (cheap but slow), via air (faster but considerably more expensive) or by train. Traktionssysteme Austria‘s container was in transit for about 12 days from China to Austria a couple of months ago, which seems to be an ideal alternative as it is faster than the marine transport and cheaper than shipping by air.

Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on tour through Europe
The Railway Technical Tour 2019 (RTT) of the Railway Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has taken the participants through the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Austria. A group of 40 engineers visited Traktionssysteme Austria‘s headquarter in Wiener Neudorf where the delegates took part in a tour through the company premises. In a workshop, TSA engineering experts presented current areas of development like high-speed drives, high-temperature insulation systems and permanent-magnet traction drives.

TSA to supply traction motors for 87 trams in Oslo
Traktionssysteme Austria hits another strike: Sporveien, the public transport operator in Norway‘s capital, has selected Spain‘s CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A.) to deliver 87 Urbos trams which will be equipped with 696 traction motors by TSA. The tram network of Oslo, consisting of 6 lines with 99 stops, is one of the main pillars for the city‘s public transport and carries more than 130,000 passengers per day.

256 TSA Motors for 64 new FLIRT Trains to Hanover S-Bahn
Last year, the Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock Stadler Rail has won the tender for Hanover´s S-Bahn and will supply 64 new FLIRT vehicles which will enter service in 2021. This contract marks a large-scale order for TSA with a total of 256 traction motors of type FLIRT 4.

Metro Amsterdam to be equipped with TSA Motors
The public transport operator in Amsterdam GVB has selected the Spanish company CAF, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A., to deliver 30 new vehicles of its new future M7 series. The three-car metro train sets will be equipped with Traktionssysteme Austria‘s sound-optimized next generation traction motors. The energy efficiency of the drives was improved in order to meet the high standards, in particular the requirements regarding the low weight and the smooth maintenance.

If you were looking for a race to run last weekend, the 6th Raiffeisen Easter Run in Mödling was the best place to be. Our 8 TSA Runners Community members grabbed their team jerseys and running equipment to meet the 800 participants at the starting line. The warm-weather forecast was proved right by pleasant spring temperatures and a bright blue sky.

New Sales Director at Traktionssysteme Austria
Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) announces change in Sales Management: Oliver TÓTH will take up his new duties from January 01, 2019 and will report directly to the General Management. He has been a member of the Sales Team of TSA in Wiener Neudorf since 2009 and started his career as a Sales Engineer before joining the Board of Directors of US subsidiary Traction Systems Inc. in 2012. In 2017 he was appointed Vice President and Head of Strategic Sales Department at TSA.

TSA wins Spanish tender for high-speed trains
Traktionssysteme Austria has been selected to provide traction motors for the new Talgo high-speed trains for Spanish rail operator Renfe. This prestigious project includes 30 new Avril vehicles by Talgo, which will run at a maximum speed of 330 km/h. 15 trains will be equipped with special bogies for variable gauges, enabling vehicles to be used on tracks outside Spain as well.

Train 18 in India powered by TSA drive technology
Train 18, India´s first EMU-vehicle with TSA newest drive technology was launched on October 29, 2018 by Chennai´s ICF (Integral Coach Factory). In a festive inauguration ceremony with high Indian representatives, Train 18 was presented to the public. It will replace the existing Shatabdi Express and has the potential to reach a speed up to 160 km/h, cutting down the travel time by 10-15%.

After certain investments and basic construction works in order to build a workplace for welding at Traktionssysteme Bosnia d.o.o. (TRB), the company is now qualified to perform welding work according to EN 15085. On January 15th, the ÖBB Technische Services GmbH came to visit TSA´s headquarters in Wiener Neudorf. The ÖBB Technische Services GmbH is in charge for the maintenance and servicing of rail vehicles and is one of the most important companies of the ÖBB Holding (Austrian Federal Railways). As part of the internal trainee program for HTL (technical college) graduates of the Engineering division, several excursions are involved in the curriculum.
