TSA was awarded by CAF, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A. in Spain, to design and deliver traction motors for the subway vehicles for the Quito Metro (Metro de Quito, MDQ).
Quito Metro´s single line which is currently under construction is scheduled for inauguration in 2019. Line 1 will include 15 stops along the 23 km route connecting Quitumbe in the South and El Labrador in the North of Ecuador´s capital.
TSA will provide newly developed and self-ventilated traction motors with an optimized air circulation system for the 18 subway vehicles. Each unit has the capacity to transport up to 1,500 passengers per ride. The metros will run with a frequency of 4 minutes and will bring a great mobility improvement to Quito´s inhabitants.
