TSA motors: The beating heart of Belgrade’s trams
Traktionssysteme Austria developed and manufactured the TMR 36-18-4 traction motors used in 30 five-section low-floor CAF Urbos 3 trams operating in Belgrade. These vehicles, equipped with TSA electric motors between 2010 and 2012, have been a key component of Belgrade’s public transport system since 2011.
The TSA TMR 36-18-4 traction motor was specifically designed to meet the demands of Belgrade’s urban transport system and features a stator winding optimized for 600V DC operation.
The CAF Urbos 3 trams, with a track gauge of 1,000 mm (meter gauge), are known for their fully low-floor design, ensuring barrier-free access for all passengers. These five-section articulated vehicles offer not only a high level of passenger comfort but also impressive capacity, meeting the needs of urban public transport.
TSA’s presence across Serbia
Beyond Belgrade, Traktionssysteme Austria is also present in other Serbian transport projects. In Novi Sad, TSA motors power 10 Solaris Urbino 12 Electric buses operated by JGSP Novi Sad. Additionally, TSA traction motors are installed in electric multiple units of Serbia’s national passenger railway company, Srbijavoz. These include 21 four-section Flirt 3 trains, 18 four-section Flirt 4 trains, and three four-section KISS 200 double-deck trains.
