Home » TSA wins order for traction motors for the new AB Transitio fleet in Sweden
TSA was contracted by CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, S.A.) to design and manufacture traction motors for 28 regional trains. The vehicles are part of the Civity Nordic platform and are designed to operate in extreme weather conditions from -40ºC to +40ºC. The Swedish company AB Transitio ordered 20 EMUs (electric units) and 8 BMUs (biodiesel-electric bimodal units) from CAF. The trains are intended for operation in 4 regions in Sweden.
The new vehicles are necessary to meet the growing need to extend the services of public transport. In addition, the fleet which is currently in service, will be replaced in order to improve both the service quality as well as the environmental impact of public rail transport. The new traction motors were developed with an energy-optimized design to perfectly match the use. CAF has scheduled the delivery of the first vehicles to AB Transitio for end of 2022.
