Home » New Eurocity trains ECx by Deutsche Bahn to be equipped with TSA motors
Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) was awarded to design and deliver motors for 23 Eurocity trains to Deutsche Bahn. The vehicles will be produced by Spanish manufacturer Talgo in Madrid, and the Bilbao-based company Ingeteam Power Technology will supply the entire drive technology. The order comprises 92 units of the TMF 69-44-4 engine type, making the locomotive engines one of the largest TSA has ever developed and produced.
The new generation of push-pull trainsets are expected to enter service in 2023 and will be deployed on routes between Amsterdam and Berlin as well as between touristic destinations from Westerland (Sylt) to Karlsruhe and Cologne to Oberstdorf. The vehicles, also known as ECx trains, will be designed to operate a top speed of 230 km/h and are expected to shorten the average journey time in international traffic by about 30 minutes.
