Home » TSA Motors for 43 new Driverless Metros in London
TSA was awarded by CAF Power & Automation in Spain to design and deliver traction motors for 43 new trains for Docklands Light Railway (DLR) which is operated by Transport for London.
CAF‘s driverless metro vehicles on UK‘s busiest light rail network will have several improvements including audio and visual travel information and wheelchair areas. The new trains will allow a walk-through between cars and they will be almost the same length as the vehicles currently in use.
43 new metros will replace DLR‘s old rolling stock of 33 units. The trains are expected to enter passenger service in 2023.
10 additional vehicles will increase frequency and capacity on the DLR route in East London. The modernization of the DLR will make London a greener and more accessible city by helping to reduce reliance on the car.
