256 TSA Motors for 64 new FLIRT Trains to Hanover S-Bahn

Last year, the Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock Stadler Rail has won the tender for Hanover´s S-Bahn and will supply 64 new FLIRT vehicles which will enter service in 2021. This contract marks a large-scale order for TSA with a total of 256 traction motors of type FLIRT 4.

The German company Transdev has won a Europe-wide public tender for operating Hanover´s suburban railway. From the end of 2021 it will be operating the 12 lines in and around the capitol of Lower Saxony. The three-part electrical multiple-unit trains with a total length of 68 meters have 8 passenger doors on each side and are capable of carrying up to almost 400 passengers. The entrance and interior of the vehicles is completely barrier-free. The new trains will be equipped with CCTV technology and will run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
