Professor Harald Neudorfer, Head of TSA´s Engineering Department, presented pioneering technologies and future trends in the field of electrical traction machines by delivering a lecture on Increase in Efficiency of Electric Motor Vehicles by Innovative Electric Machines – PM-Machine Technology and Energy Storage with Flywheel.
In addition to current developments regarding permanent magnet synchronous machines for traction applications, the main focus of our showpieces was a new TSA product: highFly, a Flywheel for the purpose of energy storage for mobile applications. By using the flywheel energy storage when operating hybrid vehicles (rail vehicles, buses, commercial vehicles, etc.) it is possible to achieve a substantial saving of energy and growth of efficiency.
