TSA to supply Traction Alternators to MTU for Maintenance Cars of the World’s Longest Rail Tunnel

TSA received an order to supply MTU Friedrichshafen (A Rolls-Royce and Daimler Company) with 13 traction alternators. The PowerPacks will be used to equip a combination of specialty vehicles and Utility Track Vehicles (UTVs) to be built by Harsco Rail.

This initial order marks TSA’s entry into the segment of maintenance of way and specialty vehicles and proves the company’s capabilities to adjust to the requirements of one-of-a-kind, complex and time-critical projects. These UTVs form the operational backbone of both the Gotthard and Ceneri Base Tunnels as revenue service in the tunnel systems will only be granted once these cars are introduced to regular service.

The delivery of the traction alternators is to be completed until 2015.
